Boost for Bobby: FSU coach responds to his critics

TALLAHASSEE ? Bobby Bowden dug in Monday, knocking back his critics and vowing his tenure at Florida State will have a happy ending.

"I know there's people upset," Bowden said. "There ain't like there's a million out there. I pay no attention to it. They don't know what's going on. They don't see the film."

The Post reported Monday that two members of Seminole Boosters Inc. are unhappy with the direction of the football program and believe Bowden should retire, one asking FSU President T.K. Wetherell to make the move.

Wetherell was asked if he supports Bowden. "Absolutely, I support him," he said.

So, too, did those who attended Bowden's weekly luncheon Monday, giving the coach his usual standing ovation as he arrived. Bowden was asked questions about the team, not his future. Bowden even made a joke about his security.

When a fan told Bowden that a broadcaster said a game like Saturday's loss to Boston College does three things to a coach, Bowden did not let him finish before answering: "Gets him fired. What are the other two?" Read More Here
